A quick search on BibleGateway.com for the word “ debt ” reveals over twenty verses containing it. The word “loan”, another six, many in the old testament.
The concept of loaning and repaying money is nothing new. Credit Card companies simply took this ancient concept and made it all too convenient to borrow large sums of money for instant gratification. But in the Old Testament, debts among the Israelites were forgiven every seven years. (See Deuteronomy 15)

NOVATO — Aircraft and engine lessor Willis Lease Finance Corp. (Nasdaq: WLFC) today said it signed a memorandum of understanding with an Italian-Russian aviation joint venture to spend an estimated $300 million on six jets tailored to regional airlines with an option to purchase four more.
The agreement with SuperJet International calls for the first of the 98-seat Sukhoi SuperJet 100 aircraft to be delivered two years from now.

What does a blogger’s spouse do while the blogger is out of town? Hang out with other bloggers and their spouses, of course! While Chris Guillebeau was off playing with the tigers in Thailand , his wife Jolie spent some time with Kris and me.
Last Friday morning, we picked peaches (and then Kris and Jolie canned them). In the evening, the three of us had dinner with Erica (from erica.biz ) and her husband Richard. Judge Paul M. Peatross Jr. ruled that Cuccinelli can investigate whether fraud has occurred in university grants, as the attorney general had contended, but ruled that Cuccinelli’s subpoena failed to state a “reason to believe” that Mann had committed fraud.
The ruling is a major blow for Cuccinelli, a global warming skeptic who had maintained that he was investigating whether Mann committed fraud in seeking government money for research that showed that the earth has experienced a rapid, recent warming. Mann, now at Penn State University, worked at U-Va. until 2005.

Aug. 31 (Bloomberg) — The leu may weaken toward a record low versus the euro on a risk of “political instability” in Romania and as concern about the global recovery hurts demand for riskier assets, Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. said.
The currency is poised to depreciate to around 4.40 per euro from 4.2388 at yesterday’s close, the New York-based brokerage wrote in a report late yesterday. The leu slid to an all-time low of 4.4012 per euro in intraday trading on June 29.
